As we commence the final three weeks of Semester 1, I would like to acknowledge the commitment and hard work of our students and staff throughout a demanding assessment period. This has included VCE SACs and examinations for Years 9, 10 and 11.
Year 12 GAT
Students undertaking at least one Unit 3/4 subject will sit the General Achievement Test (GAT) on Tuesday 16th June. Year 12 VCE classes will not run on this day, and Year 11 students completing the GAT should prioritise this over their Year 11 classes.
I am pleased to report that our Year 9, 10 and 11 students approached the examination period with maturity and focus.
Year 10 Work Experience
Our Year 10 students will now commence their two-week Work Experience placements. We wish them every success and hope the experience provides valuable insights into future career pathways. Thank you to our students, families and Careers Team for their efforts in organising these placements.
Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS)
Most students have had the opportunity to complete the Attitudes to School Survey. The feedback collected provides valuable information for our Wellbeing and Teaching and Learning teams, helping identify strengths and areas for improvement. This data will also inform future planning as we begin developing the school's next Strategic Plan.
Year 9 Morrisby Interviews
Year 9 students have recently participated in Morrisby feedback sessions, helping them better understand their strengths, interests and potential career pathways. This information will support discussions during the Subject Selection Conferences in August.
Debating Success
Congratulations to our Year 8 and Year 9 debating teams on a highly successful season. Students represented Rosehill with confidence and professionalism, demonstrating our values of Respect, Initiative and Learning. Their achievements included numerous team victories, close finals and several Best Speaker awards. Thank you to Ms Abuacan for her dedication, guidance and enthusiasm throughout the season.
Sporting Success
On the afternoon of Thursday 11th June, I was able to pop in for the final part of the Year 8 Boys AFL competition against local area schools. I arrived during the final, having already heard that our team had recorded impressive victories over Strathmore Secondary College and Essendon Keilor College in the earlier rounds.
The grand final was against Buckley Park College, who had progressed through the other side of the draw after wins against Maribyrnong College and Footscray City College.
Congratulations to our outstanding Year 8 team and their coaches on a dominant performance, winning the final 98–0. It was a terrific achievement and a testament to the skill, teamwork and preparation of the players and coaching staff. We wish the team all the best as they progress to the next stage of the competition.
Staffing Update
This week we welcomed Wen Pang to the Rosehill community. Wen joins our Administration team in Reception and brings extensive experience working in secondary schools. We are delighted to have her on board.
End of Term Reminder
The final day of Term 2 will be Friday 26th June, with an early dismissal at 2:25 pm. The day will operate on a Wednesday timetable.
