As we commence the 2026 school year, I warmly welcome all students, parents, carers and families to the Rosehill community. I extend a particular welcome to those students joining us for the first time, especially our Year 7 students, who are beginning an exciting new chapter as they transition into secondary education. This is a significant step in their learning journey, and I congratulate them on reaching this important milestone.
Rosehill Secondary College is committed to developing young people who are prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world. Alongside strong academic programs, we place great importance on student wellbeing and providing guidance and support throughout the adolescent years. Our diverse range of extracurricular programs further enhances this experience, and I encourage all students to become involved so they can make the most of their time at Rosehill.

SCHOOL VALUES
The school year has begun in a very positive manner, with our induction programs being extremely well received. These programs clearly and succinctly communicate our school values and the high expectations that define what it means to be a student at Rosehill Secondary College. The calm, respectful and orderly way in which students have commenced the 2026 school year strongly reflects and reinforces our shared purpose.
Our School Vision
At Rosehill Secondary College the learner and learning outcomes are central.
Our students are inspired to achieve success through stimulating and positive learning environments, and innovative and diverse teaching strategies.
This is complemented by respect, co-operation and commitment by all members of the college community.
New skills, new knowledge and new understandings will give our learners the confidence to face the future.
Our Vision is underpinned by the college values. They are:
Respect, Initiative and Learning (RIL)
The two key goals for the year are:
Goal 1 To maximise the learning growth of every student.
Goal 2 Empower students to actively take responsibility and ownership of their learning and wellbeing.
SCHOOL COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Within this Newsletter is information relating to the School Council and its elections. The are three (3) two-year vacancies for parent/guardian representatives to join School Council for 2026-2027. If interested or would like more information, please email the Business Manager, Judith Wright at rosehill.sc@education.vic.gov.au
SCHOOL DIARY/PLANNER
We strongly encourage every student at the College to purchase and use a Rosehill school diary. Available from the Administration office for $15, the diary is an essential resource that supports effective organisation, an important skill for success both at school and beyond.
The diary helps students manage their learning by planning their daily activities, tracking weekly commitments and organising their workload across each term. Designed specifically for Rosehill students, it also includes key information such as school policies, rules and expectations, classroom exit logs, and practical study advice to support learning.
Congratulations to Marco Venville Castro, whose outstanding entry was selected as the winning design for this year’s diary.

YEAR 12 CAMP
The Year 12 camp at Phillip Island last week was a highly successful experience, offering students and staff valuable time to strengthen relationships and connect beyond the classroom. Opportunities such as this are important in fostering a strong sense of unity and helps students set clear goals for the year ahead. I was fortunate to attend one of the surfing lessons, it was a perfect day for surfing.

The wellbeing presentation delivered during the camp was both engaging and timely, providing students with meaningful insights and practical strategies to support their health and wellbeing as they navigate their final year of schooling.
Congratulations to the Year 12 VCE team for their outstanding organisation and careful planning in delivering such a positive and memorable camp experience.
