With only a couple of weeks remaining this year, it is pleasing to see senior students complete their VCE Orientation classes. I trust the lessons have provided an insight into the requirements of VCE and the high level of commitment needed to be successful. With Year 10 and 9 exams now complete I have received many positive reports from staff. These are terrific opportunities for students to experience the rigour of exams and hopefully impress the need to be well organised and well prepared throughout the semester to achieve high academic outcomes.

End of Year Excursions/Activities

Next week is the final week of scheduled classes for students in Years 7 – 9. Friday 13^th December is the whole school excursion day. Communication around the programming of this day has been provided via Compass posts to each year level. The final week of the school year begins on Monday 16^th December. Students have been provided with the opportunity to select activities they wish to attend during these days.

Year 7 Orientation Day

On Tuesday 10^th December we look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 group of 2025. Over 200 students will be attending and will use this day to begin the familiarisation process with how things operate at Rosehill. Next Tuesday is one part of our strong transition program in helping minimise any anxiety and concerns our new students may be experiencing. I thank the Junior School team for their work in planning and coordinating this day.

2025 Bell Times/SAR Program

Next year there will be a slight change to the program on Tuesdays. The Student Agency and Responsibility (SAR) program will now run on Tuesday mornings. The bell times are below:

VCE Results

VCE results will be available to our Year 12 class of 2025 at 7:00am on Thursday 12^th December. The college Careers and VCE teams will be on hand to provide preference counselling and guidance on both Thursday and Friday next week. I encourage students to pop in and visit the VCE and Careers teams if needed.

VCE Art

Finally, I would like to congratulate our VCE Arts students and staff who have once again excelled in creating some amazing artwork this year. The open night at the Incinerator Gallery in Aberfeldie is this Friday, 6^th December, and there you will see many exceptional pieces of art created by our students. Well done to all the successful candidates who have been shortlisted to have their work displayed at the gallery.

The End-of-Year program for Year 7, 8, and 9 students, Activities Week, will occur during Week 11, 16th - 18th December 2024.

The annual Awards Evening for 2024 will be held on Tuesday 17^th of December at the Rosehill Secondary College Auditorium, commencing at 6:00pm - music performance commences at 5:40pm.

As the culture of our college has evolved to reflect our academic focus and commitment to excellence, the Awards evening provides the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate student achievement. Music and dance performances feature during the evening and upon conclusion of the presentations, the College Captains for the next school year are inducted.

Awards for academic excellence are presented for each of the Key Learning Areas at Years 7-11 and for each Year 12 subject studied at the College. A number of special awards are also presented throughout the evening including Year Level Dux Awards; ‘Optima Semper’, Best Always Awards; ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards; Ampol Best All Rounder Award; Community Award; CSL Excellence in Science Award; Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program Recipient and Student Encouragement Awards.
