Principals Report

Year 12

Congratulations to all students on their efforts this year. We are so pleased to have been able to show improvement across all key areas of measure in both Teaching and Learning and Wellbeing. I take this opportunity to congratulate our Year 12 cohort who received their VCE ATAR results last week. Well done to the class of 2024. Many students achieved exceptional results. 99% of our cohort successfully completed their VCE. An outstanding effort. First round preferences are due early next week, we wish students the best of luck in securing courses of choice.

Awards Evening

On Tuesday 17th December, it was an honour to attend our Awards night in our new auditorium. No doubt, the first of many in this venue. We recognised and celebrated educational excellence at Rosehill. It was terrific to see so many parents and families able to attend and celebrate the academic success of their children. A big congratulations to all students who received an award, your hard work was well rewarded. We are proud of your efforts. I acknowledge our wonderful sponsors who continue to support our community with some terrific awards:

  • Pennisi Real Estate
  • Pippos Pizza
  • Van and Ute Hire

Congratulations to Heidi Bowles for her terrific organisation of the night and to all staff who supported the event.

Orientation Day

Tuesday 10th December was the Statewide Orientation Day. It was terrific to see the grade 6 students have a positive experience and use the opportunity to make new friends and become familiar with our school grounds, environment and expectations. We look forward to welcoming our new families in 2025 and helping them understand and embrace our school values of Respect, Initiative and Learning (RIL).

Facilities Update

With the major capital works program now complete we are looking forward to enjoying all our new facilities. Although these works have finished, we are still undertaking minor works at the school. Just this week we relocated our IT team to their new office and re-instated the junior school team back in A wing. All the Humanities and Languages staff have also moved back into the main staff room in A wing freeing up E3 and the sub library for the Year 11 and international students respectively. The old junior school office has been converted back into a classroom. During the summer break we will commence works on a new Year 7 locker bay and hope to have it completed early in Term 1. This will reduce the need to have lockers in corridors and keep those thoroughfares clear.

2025 Start of Year

Please note that 2025 will be staggered start. Day 1 for Year 7, 11 and 12 will commence on Wednesday 29th January, with the Year 12 cohort on study camp from Wednesday to Friday. Year 8 and 9 will commence school on Thursday 30th January and Year 10 will start on Friday 31st January. All students will be involved in an induction program during their first day. The focus of the induction program is to provide clarity around our high expectations and understanding of the school values, attitudes and behaviours we expect from all students at Rosehill Secondary College.

In closing, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy and happy New Year. On behalf of all the staff at Rosehill Secondary College, we thank you for your continued support and commitment to public education and our wonderful school.
